Day Twenty of "31 Days of Love": Helping a Friend with Her Controversial Essay

Tonight I helped my friend Crystal Lee with her paper.

She was stressed while working on a major essay project in her writing class. The assignment was to write a biographical essay about a successful person, and she decided to write about Jesus Christ, while her peers are writing about Bill Gates, Oprah, Einstein, Lady Gaga, and others. So you can imagine how this sets her apart in her class.

The paper is much harder to write because composing a scholarly, unbiased, and well-received paper about Jesus is no easy task, especially when you're readers are presumably not Christian or don't even believe that Jesus existed.

Her paper is due tomorrow so she needed my help tonight with fine-tuning it and revising it. For me, this act of love is sacrificial for me because I already have quite a bit to study and work on tonight in light of the quiz in math tomorrow (a class I am dying in). And I had already planned on staying up late.

But she was at the point in her paper where she's tired, unmotivated, and sorta stuck in a rut.

I knew that stepping in tonight to spend some good time revising her paper for her would really push her and give her momentum with her paper.

I also really believe in what she's doing. Not only are her classmates reading her paper and following her progress, she's also got to present this to the class later on. So this paper has a lot potential and power to open peoples eyes to Jesus!

Pray for Crystal Lee (UC Irvine) and her paper! Pray that her teacher and classmates have their eyes and hearts opened to Jesus through this assignment. Pray for God to show Crystal divine favor on this paper, and that she would write it creatively, intelligently, and boldly.

Maybe I'll post her paper here when it's done. It's really good.
