Today I had suuuuuch a great time at the Keep Hope Alive benefit show at Pepperdine U.
The lineup was freakin' amazing. Gabe Bondoc alone is sweet. But Clara! AND The Nehemiah Band!? AND Jennifer Chung?! Mindblowing. Earblowing!
Afterwards, Clara and the band did us the kind honor of hanging out with us over dinner at Norms. We are a loud and crazy group, but they're a very nice and caring group of people so we all had a good time even though it was late and everyone was kinda tired. Love them. Role models!
Anyway, for my act of love today, I opened the door for a elderly man on a wheelchair.
I saw him coming from a distance towards all of us after we had left the restaurant, but it wasn't until he was pretty close by that I was able to ask him "Are you heading into Norms sir?"
He responded "yes", so I went ahead and opened the door for him.
He told me thanks and that he appreciated it.
That's all!
***Though it seems small and almost obligatory by social standards to open (hold) the door for people, I think you can outshine peoples expectations of "common courtesy" by doing this and all acts of kindness in an exceptionally caring, thoughtful, and considerate manner. Basically, there's more than one way to open the door for someone.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Challenge (To myself and to you):
Always be on the lookout for a chance to love someone, be it in big or small ways! If you're thinking of other people, their needs, and their wants, and doing your best to satisfy those in some way in a manner of love, you have succeeded in honoring God and living out love. So take initiative today, because everyone loves (and needs) to be loved.
