It was 9:28 pm when it sunk in that the day was almost over and I had yet to do my act of love for today. After telling a couple of friends my situation and coming up with no good ideas, I decided I'd go to Facebook for some help via a Facebook status update!
I was moments away from posting this status, which reads,
"Haven't done my act of love for today and I'm having trouble thinking of what I should do. Any suggestions? Does anyone need anything? :)"
Approximately 5 seconds before I would have hit "Share", my phone rang, so I stopped to answer the call.
It was Emily Hou, a friend of mine from Intervarsity who is interning with Jaeson Ma and needed my help with promoting 1040 to my Christian friends.
We had been messaging throughout the day about meeting up so she could give me fliers, but we were unable to meet. She called asking if it was okay for her to come over to Parkside, where I live.
I asked her where she was and told her how I had not done my act of love for today (she already knows about what I'm doing). I asked if I could instead go over to where she was to pick up the fliers, saving her a trip all the way to the other end of campus in the cold. So that was my act of love, in addition (I guess) to helping her promote the event.
When I got there we talked about her involvement with everything Jaeson Ma has been up to. It was great :)
You know, God has some wicked crazy timing. I'd been praying all day for an opportunity to show love and was pretty beat when I missed one earlier this morning. It was as if he was like, "You need an opportunity to show love? Don't update your Facebook status, here's Emily!"
