I have recently stepped up to take responsibility for all of the worship leading for the next month or so in order to give Teacher Joe a much-needed and deserved break.
This means I will go back to doing both Friday and Sunday worship leading. It also means I will be spending a lot more time in preparation, practice, and prayer. The three P's! hahaha
I think it would be good to do some songs this Sunday that proclaim God's glory and who He is.
So anyway, after a few days of deliberation and thought and meditation, I have concluded that the following songs would be good songs to sing:
--
1) Lord I Lift Your Name on High
I figure it would be good to start off with a song most of our ministry is familiar with. I can totally imagine everyone being able to sing along with this one and clapping and getting involved with the worship. I personally really like this song and think that the chorus is awesome.

2) God of Ages
This is a newer song to the ministry. I want to try and bring in at least one new song every worship set. I don't think this will shock the ministry too much since I know of churches that do that pretty regularly. As long as there are three or four other familiar songs it should be fine. I always think a worship song has the most power the first two or three times its played anyway. Songs can lose power sometimes when it becomes too familiar. This is a really great song that proclaims who God is. I was being rocked pretty hard emotionally this past week while listening to this song in the car hahaha

3) Indescribable
This might also be a new song to the ministry, but I am sure that a good number of them will know it. It's a relatively well-known Chris Tomlin song and if they listen to Christian music, they should probably have heard this at least once before. Again, another great song proclaiming God's nature.

4) Holy is the Lord
This is definitely a song familiar to the ministry and I think it would be good to close with this song. It's one of my favorites and the lyrics are still moving to me even after playing this song many times.

5) Offering Song: Arms of Love
This is a song that the ministry has heard before, but not all that much. So it should not be played out. It's simple, slow, and has a message of gratefulness which I think would be appropriate for an offering song.

I think that overall this set is very fresh and new, yet at the same time familiar. It has some songs that we haven't done in a while, but that everyone knows; and it also has some songs that are new but easy to pick up in terms of melody.
I also feel like the dynamics and flow are all very smooth. It starts off moderately upbeat, then turns a little more passionate, and then slows down slightly, and ends on a more reflective slow song. Any changes in tempo are all very gradual, so there won't be anything like this past Friday where I sang one very upbeat song and then went right into a very slow song.
I am at peace with the set and I pray that God would bless the ministry with it. It is my serious desire that this just might be the service that really convicts the ministry and brings more to repentance and a passionate love relationship with God. This prayer does not exclude me either.
That's all! Can't wait to worship!
so how'd it go?!
