The Prodigal Blogger Has Returned!

Hello World! I am back!

I just got my new laptop moments ago! I am still in the process of getting everything set-up but I promised I would return from my blogging hiatus once I got my new laptop.

Surely enough, here is my first post on my shiny new Sony VAIO laptop! :D

From the comments I've received, I came to the conclusion that my posts are always way too long for the average attention span these days so I'm going to start doing shorter, more frequent posts instead.

With that said, I want to share something I thought was very interesting and thought-provoking the other day while I was listening to a John Piper sermon. He really does a great job at defining just how grave of an evil sin is to God and shows on how many different levels sin belittles God.

"What makes sin sin is not first that it hurts people, but that it blasphemes God. This is the ultimate evil and the ultimate outrage in the universe.

The glory of God is not honored.
The holiness of God is not reverenced.
The greatness of God is not admired.
The power of God is not praised.
The truth of God is not sought.
The wisdom of God is not esteemed.
The beauty of God is not treasured.
The goodness of God is not savored.
The faithfulness of God is not trusted.
The promises of God are not relied upon.
The commandments of God are not obeyed.
The justice of God is not respected.
The wrath of God is not feared.
The grace of God is not cherished.
The presence of God is not prized.
The person of God is not loved."

I found that very interesting. I strongly recommend the sermon; it will structure your view of sin and grace in a biblically-sound and accurate way. He makes a lot of other great points and convicting and renewing remarks.

I made it my summer goal in June to read the entire New Testament by my Move-In Day, which is the 19th of August. So far I am about half way through Romans (definitely my most favorite book so far). My girlfriend, Crystal, and I have been reading together every night and discussing the readings and challenging one another frequently. It's definitely been a fruitful endeavor and both of us have grown in knowledge and in spirit. Very exciting stuff :)

I'll cut it off here before it gets too long :)

Thanks for reading. Leave me a comment.
